Liverpool 2016
Exeter City v Liverpool, FA Cup 3rd Round, 2016
Having beaten Didcot Town, and Port Vale in the first two rounds of the famous Cup, Exeter City drew the seven-time winners Liverpool, at home in the 3rd round. With the BBC cameras rolling, and St James Park fit to bursting, the Grecians twice led through Tom Nichols and Lee Holmes, only to be denied by equalising goals from Jerome Sinclair and Brad Smith. The pick of the bunch was the goal from Holmes, who, on the stroke of halftime, swung in a corner from the St James Road end that sailed over Adam Bogdan in the Liverpool goal... the picture of his face says it all. After the match, Paul Tisdale said "I'm a football manager and I want to win games. When you're 2-1 up and defending a lead with 10 minutes to go then you're disappointed. But we got a draw against a very good side and have a replay at Anfield. We have no investor so every penny counts. At the end of the day we've put on a really good show." These pictures document the match, and have been kindly provided to the Grecian Archive by LFC photographer, Andrew Powell. The Film is linked from FAtv.
