Depending on your point of view, the St James Road end is quite possibly the “best” away end in the football league! These days, this end of the ground is given to visiting fans, but back in the day City fans would watch the game from this terrace and then run to the other end at half time to watch City attacking the ‘Big Bank’. This section of the ground has only enough room to host just over 1,000 travelling supporters, and small enough that the people living in the houses behind have one of the best seats in the house for matches. In fact, when Best, Charlton, Busby and co came to town with Manchester United in the 1960’s, it is rumored that the owners of the houses rented out their rooms for hundreds of pounds!
