Biographical Text
George Dalgliesh appeared as a guest for Exeter City during 1945/46 when two interim league competitions - Division Three South (South of Thames) [played until Christmas] and the Division Three South Cup (Southern Section) [played from January] - were organised ahead of a return to ‘normal’ league football in 1946/47. He was briefly a professional with Everton although there is no record of him playing in the first-team.
Hailing from Scotland, and coming through the junior ranks at Goodison Park, George had recently agreed a professional contract with Everton when - appearing as a guest player during the months immediately after the end of the war - he turned out for Exeter City in October 1945 against Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic at St James’ Park in a Division Three South (South of the Thames) fixture.
Later returning to Scotland, George lived into his nineties ahead of his death in Inverness in 2013.

I now live in Ontario as do his grandsons, his son having died last November.
