Match 41
11th April 1955
Aldershot Home
EASTER MONDAY APRIL 11TH
AT ST JAMES'S PARK.
EXETER CITY 0 ALDERSHOT 1.
If Exeter City were in a safe League position their latest display might be conveniently dismissed as an end of season performance and of little consequence. When on the other hand the club is danger of relegation and every one point gained is of vital importance matters cannot and should not be taken so lightly.
For this match, watched by 6,959 people, who paid $607. 16s. Od., was a shocker. It was won by Aldershot, for whom Cheney scored the only goal 30 seconds before half-time, but as regards good football the visiting side were no better than the home one.
EXETER CITY: Bell; B.Doyle, Douglass; Dunne, Harvey, Mitchell; Thomas, Houghton, Donaldson, Murphy, and McClelland.
ALDERSHOT: Brown; Monks, Banks; Alison, Billington, Lacey; J.Gaynor, Menzies, Sirrel, Cheney, and Ball.
REFEREE: Mr C.G.Porter, of Taunton.
