BELMONT v EXETER CITY.

Saturday, September 17th.

This Senior League match was played on the Belmont ground, and a good gate resulted. The City started with the wind in their favour, and kept Belmont penned in their own territory for most of the first half. Davidson dribbled past the home backs and goalkeeper, and placed the ball neatly in the net for the first goal to Exeter City. Rowsell and Turner put in excellent shots for Belmont, which the City goalkeeper saved, but he was at length beaten by Turner. At the interval the score was one all. Play in the second half was greatly in favour of Exeter City, the Belmont halves being weak. Many moves were spoiled by the tendency on the part of Sellick to get offside, but after some skirmishing near the home goal Sellick scored Exeter's second goal, and Eveleigh followed with a third. Fenwick and Thorn worked hard for Belmont, and Thomas likewise for the City.

Result: City 3 Belmont 1.

Belmont:- Commins; Thorn and Fenwick; Smith, Leece, and Till; Rowsell, Reed, Turner, Light, and Esworth.

Exeter City:- Peters; Ashford and Aplin; Wallage, Davidson, and Morgan; Sellick, Thomas, Reid, Eveleigh, and Horner.
