EXETER CITY v TORQUAY UNITED:
A friendly match between these sides was played at St James's Field today, September 24th. Several alterations were made in the Exeter team, Davidson and the Rev.Reid being unable to turn out. Eveleigh and Sellick brought the ball down from their own goal with Torquay attacking, and after a fine combined run, nearly the entire length of the field Thomas netted the first goal. Eveleigh broke away again and scored, following which Thomas registered two more goals for Exeter, who led at the interval by four to nil.
Playing down the hill in the second half Torquay improved, but could not break down Exeter's defence, and the only goal scored in this half was by Sellick for the Citizens.
Exeter: Peters; Ashford and Waite; Coles, Morgan, and Wallage; Sellick, Thomas, Henderson, Eveleigh, and Horner.
Torquay:- Stone; Reed and Pearman; Palmer, Aitken, and Mann; Edwards, Winter, Leadbetter, Camble, and Singer.
Result: Exeter City 5 Torquay United 0.
