EXETER CITY v ST LUKE'S COLLEGE. Senior League match at St James's Park.
Exeter City, whose unbeaten record was broken by the Artillery last week, encountered St Luke's College today, October 8th, on the St James's Park pitch, there being several hundred spectators. The City kicked off, but Russell was robbed of the ball, and when the College attacked they found Horner difficult to pass. When within shooting distance of the College goal, Reid was fouled by Willis, and a penalty accordingly given. Reid took the kick himself and found the net with a shot that Newman had no chance with. The City continued to press, and Sellick nearly scored with a header, the ball going over the top of the net. The game was very fast, and neither side had a monopoly of the play. Exeter's forwards combined well, the Rev. Reid, who has played. for Swindon Town, being a "star" turn with tricky footwork and fast dribbling. Reid, meeting a centre from Russell, scored a second goal before the game was twenty minutes old.
COLLEGE MISSED A PENALTY.
Reid's goal was a grand effort, which richly merited the cheers of the watchers. The College replied with vigour, and one of their forwards was fouled by Davidson close to the City goal. The penalty brought no advantage to the Collegians, however, one of their backs shooting wide. The City forwards got away again, and Reid scored another goal after Chambers (St Luke's) had handled. Just afterwards through an injury to his knee Collins, the College captain, was taken off the field.
HALF TIME:

Peters; Ashford, Horner; Wallage, Davidson, Morgan; Sellick, Thomas, Reid, Eveleigh, Russell.
