Match 17
31st December 1904
Newton Town v Exeter City

NEWTON TOWN v EXETER CITY

This Senior League match was played at Newton, before a large gate. Newton were without Bennett and Stride, whilst the City were deprived of the services of Reid, playing for Devon.

Newton: Dawe; Jeanes, S. Pochin; Badcock, Hennion, Vicary; Hill, Hexter, H. Pochin, Hearden, Polk.

Exeter City:- Peters; Ashford, Horner; Wallage, Davidson, Morgan; Sellick, Thomas, Russell, Eveleigh, Coles.

Play ruled very even in the first half, but Newton had the bad fortune to lose the services of H. Pochin, who, in charging an opponent, put his elbow joint out, and had to retire. Nothing was scored in the first half. After the interval Exeter were awarded a penalty for "hands, " from which a goal resulted, Ashford scoring with the kick. This proved to be the only score, Exeter winning by one goal to nil.
