Saturday, March 18th.East Devon League
Fifteen hundred enthusiasts watched the 112th Battery's match with Exeter City at the Camp Field this afternoon. The teams did not take the field until 4 o'clock, the players representing Exeter City being:-
Peters; Horner, and Fenwick; Wallage, Davidson, and Morgan; Sellick, Thomas, Reid, Andrews, and Russell.
The opening play was fast and furious. The City backs had to do a tremendous amount of tackling, but both were in fine form. Reid opened the scoring for Exeter with a penalty kick. Then a fast dribble per Jimmy Sellick down the touch-line, and a good centre to Russell nearly brought about another goal, but McKay saved Russell's shot. Half-time: City 1, 112th Battery nil. The Artillery pressed on the restart, and it was not very long before they headed Exeter's score, Hill sending through twice. Thomas eventually equalised, and at the call of time the score stood at:
112th Battery 2 Exeter City 2.
