Exeter City

SEASON 1905-1906


Exeter City held their public trial match at St James's Park on Saturday, September 2nd, when a large crowd attended. All the players showed promising form and two goals were scored. The "whites" (probable reserve team) scored first, a shot by one of their forwards going into the net off Cann. After ends had been changed Sellick equalised for the "greens" (probable first team). The sides were:

Greens: Cann; Aplin, Fenwick; W. Wells, Davidson, Morgan; Sellick, Thomas, Reid, E. Wells, Russell.

Whites: Sturge; Fitzgerald, Clarke; Brooks, Bastin, Oliver; Paddon, Loughman, Pook, Veale, Kettle.

Exeter City are now firmly established, and will play in the Plymouth and District League this season. The first match will be v Torpoint, at Torpoint, on September 16th.

The Reserves are in the East Devon Senior League.

A friendly match between Exeter City and Turnchapel was played at St James's Park on September 9th, the City winning by two goals to one. Andrews and Russell scored for the City; Rowse for Turnchapel.
