Match 10
25th November 1905
Friendly
Royal Marines (h)

EXETER CITY V ROYAL MARINES.

NOVEMBER 25TH. 1905

Friendly match, played at St James's Park, Exeter, in pouring rain before a small attendance. The game was mostly of a scrambling nature, the state of the ground being responsible for it. Robinson saved several shots by the Marines' forwards, while Wells helped out magnificently in defence. After several unsuccessful attempts the Marines at last opened the scoring through Seatonby. Thomas replied for Exeter. The credit for Exeter's second goal, scored by Thomas, belongs in reality to Russell. Russell made a fine run and brought the goalkeeper to his knees with a stinging shot. The ball struck the upright and rebounded to Thomas, who scored easily. Hill equalised, the match ending in a draw, two goals all.

Exeter City:- Robinson; W. Wells, Clarke; Morgan, Davidson, and Brooks; Sellick, Thomas, Reid, Andrews, and Russell.

Royal Marines:- Burton; Cleverly, Holcombe; Abrahams, Woodhall, and Starr; Chapple, Hill, Yeo, Seatonby, and Taylor.
