Reserve Match
St Luke’s College (a)
ST LUKE'S COLLEGE v EXETER CITY RESERVES.
Saturday, October 27th,
at Magdalen Road.
The weather was fine, but a strong wind spoiled the play and interfered with accurate passing. Fifteen minutes from the start Cann scored for the City with a long shot. For a while Exeter continued to have the best of the game, but the Collegians soon warmed up and forced several corners. These were all cleared. By good combined work St Luke's were at last rewarded with a goal. Smith from a pass by Leat shot against the crossbar, and the rebound was driven into the net by G.E.Smith. A penalty by Lintott resulted in the College taking the lead, and a minute later their third goal was scored by Warner with a terrific shot from 30 yards' range.
Half time: St Luke's 3 Exeter 1.
Within five minutes of the restart Hyde, in the Exeter goal, was beaten for the fourth time, by G.F.Smith, and with his second penalty of the afternoon Lintott registered the fifth goal. The College monopolised the play in the second half, and won by five goals to one.
