Match 10
10th November 1906
Plymouth & District League
Millbrook Rangers (h)
EXETER CITY V MILLBROOK RANGERS
Plymouth League match at St James's Park.
Saturday, November 10th.
Exeter City were engaged today in a Plymouth League match at St James's Park against Millbrook Rangers, a Plymouth team. It was the first time for three weeks that the City Firsts had been seen on their own enclosure, but little hope was held out of the gate in consequences of this being a good one, for the biggest attraction of the day was on the County Ground, where Devon and Gloucester were playing a championship match.
Exeter City:- R.Vibart; Fenwick, W.Wells; Rev E.Reid, Bastin, Muncey; Sellick, Turner, Tipping, Youlden, Russell.
Millbrook Rangers:- Herbert Snell; Downs, Wright; Bath, Mildren, Snell; Tracey, Collins, Clements, Brooking, Bishop.
Referee: Mr E.Green, of Plymouth.
The Exeter City team and officials were photographed on the ground before the start.
Millbrook arrived late, and the kick off was delayed till 3.40 o'clock. The City won by two goals, both scored by Youlden, to one. It was however a very poor game and undeserving of comment. There was too much roughness, Reid and Bastin both being injured. The City ought to have been three goals up in the first half, but the Rangers greatly improved afterwards, and several times got within shooting distance. Vibart, the new goalkeeper, could not be blamed for the only goal scored against him, and will no doubt retain his place in the team. General regret was expressed at the City's match today when it was reported that the accident which "Skipper" Andrews sustained in the Plymouth Argyle match had taken another bad turn and would probably necessitate his removal on Monday next to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
