BOXING DAY
CITY v GUNNISLAKE.

There was only a small gate to witness this League march at St. James's Park. Exeter yesterday morning. The visitors had a fully representative team. and the City had the assistance of Warner. of St. Luke's College, but were without Muncey and Wilson. The ground was in very bad condition, and made against finished play. Reid twice missing likely shots through slipping ot the critical moment. The citizens were the attackers for a long time, but failed by inches to find the net, until Sillick scored in brilliant style from an awkward angle. Eventually the visitors broke away and almost scored before their opponents knew wha had happened. Burley equalised with a splendid shot. The success spurred Gunnislake to continued aggression, and before half-time they had scored another goal through Bolt. Snow was falling heavily when the second half opened, and in the faces of the homesters, Gunnislake profited by this, and when it cleared the City took up the attack, which they maintained nearly throughout the latter stages. They were unlucky in not finding the net and the game ended.
Gunnislake, two goals; Exeter City, one.

Thursday, December 27th,
North Devon v Exeter City

Exeter City played North Devon, at Chaddiford Lane, Barnstaple, and were beaten by three goals to one. Akef, the Egyptian, played centre forward for North Devon in place of Southcombe, of South Molton, and filled the position equally well. North Devon were considerably weakened by having to do without the South Molton players, but they managed.
