GREEN WAVES v EXETER CITY

Saturday, March 30th, at Plymouth.

GREEN WAVES 3 EXETER CITY 0.

The City first team opened their Easter programme today at Plymouth, where they were engaged in a League match against the Green Waves. Although the Exonians were not at full strength, they hoped to be able to give the Waves a good game. This game was fraught with more than usual interest for the Waves, as it was necessary for them to win in order to keep ahead of Argyle Reserves in the League table.

The Exeter team, which left by the 12.32 train from Queen Street, was:-

Chapman; Fenwick, W.Wells; Massey, Aspey, Bastin; Tomlinson, Pryce, Sellick, Coates, and Singlehurst.

The start was delayed, owing to the late arrival of Exeter City, and it was nearly 4 o'clock when Sellick kicked off. Green Waves won by three goals to nil, all the scoring being done before the interval. Gilbert opened the Waves' account in fifteen minutes with a well placed cross shot, and Spear, from a corner by Rowe headed the second goal. The third goal, three minutes from half-time, was scored by Stokes with a fine shot.
