Match 30
6th April 1907:-
Plymouth & District League
ESSA (h)

Reserve Friendly
5th Battery (h)

ESSA V EXETER CITY.
Saturday, April 6th, at Saltash.

After a goalless first half in which the shooting of both sets of forwards left much to be desired Cruttenden scored for Essa five minutes from the end. The goal came about through a shot by Johnson striking the cross bar and rebounding into the ield, Cruttenden settling on the ball and netting while the City goalkeeper was out of his goal. This was the only score of the game, Essa thus winning by 1 goal to nil.

Exeter City were represented by: Chapman; Coates, W. Wells; Muncey, Warner, Aspey; Tomlinson, Vansinter, Sellick, Pryce, Russell.

City Reserves v 5th Battery
Friendly

St James's Park, Exeter, was the scene of a well contested friendly between the City Reserves and the 5th Battery. Exeter were the better side, and won by 6 goals to 2, but the Battery did not deserve to lose by such a wide margin.

Singlehurst, Gardener, and Loosemoore were good players for the City, and the whole team was much above what is generally expected from the East Devon League side.
