Essa v Exeter City

Saturday, November 9th.

This Plymouth League match was played at Saltash. Essa, like Exeter City, occupy a very lowly in the League, and the Grecians, therefore, were not without hope of registering their second win of the season in the Plymouth competition. One of the City's main anxieties this season has been the lack of a really competent goalkeeper, and an experiment was tried today regarding this position, "Bunker" Wells being entrusted and Ancliff dropped. Sid Bastin, after his long illness, resumed at half-back, while Sellick, the captain, regained his place once more.
The team was:-
W. Wells; Fenwick, Dyer; Letheren, Bastin, Warner; Sellick, Singlehurst, Eveleigh, Mudd, and Clark.

Exeter won by a goal, scored by Singlehurst five minutes from the interval, to nil.

City Reserves v Dawlish

Dawlish opposed the City Reserves in a Senior League match at, St James's Park this afternoon, their team being captained by a former Exeter half-back, Albert Muncey, and also including Kelly, late captain of the City Reserves. At centre-half Sercombe, late of the defunct City Argyle club, appeared for Exeter Reserves.

City: Cann; E. Wells, Perrington; Goodchild, Sercombe, Norrington; Hellings, Hyde, Stoneman, Badcock, West.
Dawlish:- Morris; Robins, Parsons; Knight, Muncey, Kelly; Hurley, Reed, Bartlett, White, Trist.

Referee:- Mr Dennis.

Badcock, the old Friernhay forward, gave Exeter a well deserved lead two or three minutes before half-time. Dawlish pressed in determined fashion for a long time after the re-start, and Bartlett, who played for Reading Reserves last year, missed by inches on two occasions. But the finest shot of the match came from Stoneman, resulting in the City's second goal. Meeting the ball some fifteen yards out, he sent it crashing into the net, well wide of Morris. Exeter, in the last five minutes, scored two further goals, and Muncey missed with a penalty kick for the visitors.

City 4 Dawlish 0.
