Match 18
26rh December 1907
Exeter City v Friernhay

CITY V. FRIERNHAY

Played at St James's Park on Boxing Day morning, at St James's Park, before a good crowd.

The City had the assistance of the old Exeter United star, C. Ashford, in goal, and Oliver in place of Bastin, at left half. Ancliff of Exeter City played in goal for Friernhay, but in the first minute he missed the ball and Massey scored an easy goal. Stoneman, who was playing full-back, was bustled by Sellick and put through his own goal. At half-time the City led by two goals to nil. Friernhay started the second half with more dash, but the moves of their attacking force were very scrappy, and the Friars, in fact, seemed to have lost all their old combination.

Ancliff made many brilliant saves from the City forwards, and at length Stoneman from Russell's pass scored for the Friars.

The City team was:
Ashford; Fenwick, Dyer; Le theren, Banks, Oliver; Sellick, Singlehurst, Eveleigh, Massey, and Drew.

Result: Exeter City 2 Friernhay 1.
