East Devon League

EXETER CITY v TAVISTOCK

Saturday, March 7th,
at St James's Park.
EXETER CITY 3 TAVISTOCK 1.

This was a very fine game, the issue being in doubt right up to the very last kick. The City drew first blood, Eveleigh with a clear field running on to beat Daw from close quarters after twenty minutes. Tavistock equalised three minutes from the start of the second half through Cruze. Singlehurst put in a shot that rebounded off Daw as he fell and Massey rushed the ball through to give Exeter the lead again, but it was not until the closing minute that Eveleigh made the issue safe with a third goal. Almost the sole topic of conversation on the ground was the application by Exeter for admission to the Southern League. Everyone seemed enthusiastic about the idea. One of Exeter's old Committee-men, now living in Bristol, was present, and he stated that Bristol Rovers would fully support Exeter in their application.

Exeter City's team today was:- W.Wells; E. Wells and Parsons (Dawlish); Letheren, Banks, and Sellick; W.Stoneman (Friernhay), Eveleigh, Massey, Singlehurst, and Thomas.
