Biographical Text

Cherif Diallo, who had previously played for Scarborough, made a couple of substitute appearances for Exeter City in 2001 before briefly playing for Hayes.

Senegal-born Cherif grew up in France and had apparently been on Monaco’s books as a youth player. He had also played for Draguignan in France and Dragões Sandinenses In Portugal before joining Brighton & Hove Albion in September 2000. Moving on from Sussex without a first-team appearance Cherif signed for Scarborough in October 2000 and netted 8 goals in 21 Conference outings.

After featuring for Exeter in pre-season friendlies against Newcastle United and Crystal Palace, Cherif eventually signed for the Grecians in September 2001 and quickly made a substitute appearance in the 2-3 home defeat against Plymouth Argyle on 18 September 2001. Four days later he came off the bench at Darlington to make what proved to be his final appearance for City.

Cherif then played four Conference games for Hayes during March 2002 before leaving the West London club. He later appeared in pre-season friendlies for Brentford without being offered a contract.
