Exeter City became one of the few sides to take a point at Swansea this season when they held the promotion chasing side to a goalless scoreline Although the home side had seventy per cent of the play they were thwarted time and time again by an Exeter team who not only played with tremendous determination but occasionally showed considerable skill, Exeter's defence as a whole must take a large slice of credit for blunting Swansea's goal scoring attack, Chief honours go to brian Sharples and Mike BalsonTheir positioning could not be faulted, Campbell crawford, Graham Parker, and Jimmy Blain also got through a tremendous amount of work, Swansea did not relish their hard tackling.! The Exeter forwards took the initiative for short periodsJoe Gadston was a real live wire. He came dangerously near with two difficult changes and Alan Banks often had opponents guessing and becoming more frustrated as the game wore on. Swansea found Exeter were as unyielding as ever, City were full value for their point if only because of their determination, enthusiasm, and organised resistance,

Match Summary
Swansea's celebration of their new name of Swansea City turned sour on them for although they had something like 75 per-cent of the play they were thwarted time and time again by an Exeter side who showed tremendous determination and fighting spirit allied to considerable skill.
