LOFT A LIVELY WINGER

ARGYLE OUTPLAY EXETER

At Home Park on Saturday Plymouth Argyle, with much the stronger team, defeated Exeter City 5-1.

Exeter, without several of their usual players, had to rely on local assistance, and while they had a fair share of the game, they lacked thrust in the centre.

Argyle had a much better understanding, and took their opportunities to gain a quick lead, two goals by Brown coming in the early part of the game. Before the interval Loft scored a splendid goal. Two goals were added by Avery in the second half. Exeter's only reply was a goal by Mitcheson.

FELLOWES IN OLD FORM.

In attack Argyle were well served by Loft, on the right wing. His pace, ball control, and first-time centring provided many opportunities. The home defence was generally superior to Exeter's attack, with Brown, the Scottish international goalkeeper, always master of his job. The Exeter right-wing partnership between Jackman and Wilkinson was full of bright enterprise, and Fellowes, at right-half, showed much of his old form in defence and constructive attack.
