Goalkeeper Ken Salter made a solitary league appearance for Exeter City in March 1951 after signing from Cullompton. Leaving St James' Park to undertake National Service, he later played for Bideford.
Ken played for the National Association of Boys Clubs against a team from Germany at Highbury on 18 March,1950 and, later that year, when playing for Cullompton he was signed by Exeter City as an amateur before being put on professional forms in November 1950.
Ken's sole league appearance for the Grecians was in a 2-2 home draw against Newport County in March 1951. Retained for the 1951/52 season, he left the club to undertake National Service before signing for Bideford in May 1954.

i would like to mention that I went to school with Ken Salter and played with him for Cullompton Rangers and also with him at Minehead FC but I can not recall him playing for Bidiford FC !!

I played with Ken Salter in the late 60s at Cullompton Rangers he later became manager with Nat Bradley. When he finished with football he took over the Bell Inn pub in Cullompton. Later in life unfortunately he was diagnosed with Parkinson's. He eventually died of cancer.

We stayed in St Andrews Crescent,with my Uncle Bill,and Auntie Nina Salter.
I last visited Cullompton last year on returning home from Cornwall.
I remember playing on the slide opposite the Fire Station.
I'm surprised Ken only played one se,nior game for Exeter.
A former Exeter player Christian Roberts was brought up in the next street from ours.
