SOUTHEND'S slump continued last night despite a fourth minute goal by Steve Phillips. Exeter equalised through Nick Marker to leave Southend with two points from their last six games.

EXETER manager Brian Godfrey was booked by referee Brian Hill in the 12th minute of his team's game at Southend. Godfrey refused to leave the touchline where he was protesting about an incident which led to Exeter striker John Delve leaving the field for treatment following a goalmouth clash with Southend defender Paul Clark.
