Exeter 1  (McEwan)
HT 1-0

EX-CHAIRMAN Freddie Pye was given food for thought as the Wigan Athletic youngsters turned on the style-to end a goal famine. He watched a new-look Wigan grab a 1-1 home draw against Exeter last night, Steve Taylor ending the goal drought with his first goal of the season a 37th minute penalty. Tony Dennis was guilty of hand ball following a David Lowe corner and the decision by referee George Tyson justified their previous efforts. But a silly piece of shoving by full back Paul Comstive on Tony Kellow robbed them of their three points. Team-mate Stan McEwan strolled up to level the scores from the spot in the 73rd minute.
