Attendance 5,383,

Exeter City's win over Bournemouth was a ten minute match. Ten minutes of action and interest sparsely sprinkled over an 80 minute yawn, Harvey's 32nd minute penalty, good shots from Welsh and Banks and great saves by Best, A handful of individual runs and a couple of attempted Bournemouth raids and that was it, the match summed up in one sentence! The rest of the game was wholly uninteresting and unentertaining and at times looked as much of a pain in the neck to the players as it was to the spectators. Neither side showed bits of imagination and everything became meaningless. Because Bournemouth were so poor, City players were able to pull out a lot of nice looking little moves and tricks yet they could not pull out a single action goal," There was something more useful and effective about a formation which had Curtis, McLean and Banks up front, with Peapell, Welsh and Buckingham just behind them. In particular it gave Welsh a lot of scope which he used to pretty good effect, especially when he worked with Banks, it was still not good enough, City are still far too patchy and unpredictable to give many signs of pulling away from near the bottom,
