Full marks to the Southern Leaguers for getting away with their win. They deserved it and scored two goalsThey played some very nice football at times, but as far as giantkilling, Bedford just didn't have anything to kill. You name a weakness and City had it. The defence was shaky against a moderate attack, The City forwards were punchless against a non too strong defence, Bedord took a shock 10th minute lead when Arnold Mitchell could only head a free kick to Cooley. His cross left City keeper Peter Shearing stranded and Hall rammed in a good header, the visitors gained confidence and power and made Exeter look a poor lot, it was not until the 60th minute that City got back into the game when Dermot Curtis tapped in George McLean's pass. Bedford were far from finished, slicing upfield with fast accurate football, they got their lead back with a tremendous 18 yard drive from Bailey. The last 20 minutes saw City passing and pressing for an equaliser, but Bedford held out and had a slice of luck when Morgan headed off the line. City's performance overall was feeble and inexcusable, they were well beaten, Drastic action has to be taken by manager Ellis Stuttard. Anything would be better than this.

Bideford should have had a sack full of goals against an Exeter side in which the oldest player was 21 Yet all the home forwards were guilty of glaring misses as great gaps opened in their opponents defence, Amateur inside left Roger Dymond put Bideford ahead in the fith minute and Peter Bennett made it 2-0 after 27 minutes, Bideford had to wait until the 60th minute for their third goal through outside left Peter Anderson, Exeter captain Dennis Peapeel who was booked hammered in a 25 yard shot for the City goal.

SHAKE UP TIME FOR EXETER CITY.

It looks like shake up time at Exeter City, This morning with the sacking of trainer Albert Keetley on everyone's lips, chairman Reg Rose said that he aims for at least three new players and manager Ellis Stuttard called his current staff together and told them they must work harder and be harder, As soon as the players arrived this morning Mr Stuttard called them in for a special meeting to tell them of Keetley's dismissal and the club's new drive,

Mr Stuttard also had senior and club captain Mitchell in his office for a private talk, While the club are without a trainer, Ellis Stuttard will take over and his first orders this morning were for a 5 mile road run, He is also to have his players in at the Park for afternoon sessions for a while, Mr Rose said that whilst City cannot perform instant wonders and suddenly wave a magic wand to transform everything, he assures all supporters that everyone at the club are doing their level best to improve the situation. It was also possible that if negotiations are successful that there will be a new player in the side next Saturday. Sacked trainer Albert Keetley, thought his dismissal was a sudden decision to placate supporters, No reason for the termination of his contract was given, Ironically a £240 medical machine at the ground was recommended by Keetley and another one is on the way, he would like to stay in football but intends to remain in Exeter for a while.

FRIDAY 19th NOVEMBER 1965.

CITY BID FOR AN EIRE INTERNATIONAL.

Exeter City are negotiating for the transfer of Queens Park Rangers and Eire International Ray Brady. The 28 year old centre half joined Rangers from Millwall in 1963 for £10,000, City chairman Reg Rose said that Exeter have made an offer which they believe was acceptable, He added that Brady would do City a lot of good if he signs, he has made just one appearance for QPR this season
