Swansea got the points but no medals, neither did City, who were guilty of so many infringements that free kicks interupted the run of play. City's red shirts brightened the Vetch Field gloom in the first half. Their forwards were always sharp enough to slice the home defence and were unlucky not to have grabbed the lead, Exeter then started to blot their copybook with several robust challenges that brought several warnings from the referee, Dennis Peapell in particualr upset the Swans crowd with fouls on Allchurch and Brian Evans, In the 26th munte City conceded the only goal of the match when Brian Evans chipped the ball into the penalty area for Humphries to head in, City were unlucky when Heyes made a brilliant save from George McLean's header, and later stopped a goalbound shot from Alan Banks, In the final minute of the game City did get the ball in the net but Keith Harvey's header was ruled out when Colin Buckingham was offside, Bad luck does not win games, only goals can do that, and when Banks does not come off, City do not have what it takes to get themThe approach work is there and chances are being created, but it does need another forward to take them. The answer could be City left back George Ley who showed initiative, drive, and goal potential, Former City winger Brian Jenkin, now at Merthyr Tydfil, was among the visitors to the exeter City dressing room,

CITY RESERVES SHOW A BIG IMPROVEMENT.

CITY RESERVES 4 -2 GLASTONBURY 2;

Team
Barnett; Goad, Arbury; Balson, Harford, Anderson; Rees, Riding, Curtis, Carter, Richardson,

Scorers:
Exeter Carter, Curtis, Richardson, Riding, Glastonbury: Hatcher 2.

For several weeks Exeter City supporters have been disappointed by the performances of the club's reserve side in the Western League, but against Glastonbury they gave a much improved showing, twice coming from behind to dominate the game. It is true that for most of the second half Glastonbury only had ten men on the field, Hawkins going off with a leg injury, but Exeter were on top before this, Ray Harford, City's new signing from Charlton Athletic, did not look too impressive on his debut, Des Anderson though, had an outstanding match and must be in line for first team recall.
