Fourth Division here we come! City plunged to their heaviest defeat at home of the season against a Posh side that played fast and stylish football. The first goal came after three minutes, Kevan shooting home from 10 yards But City quickly equalised when Jack Kennedy through on his pown beat the advancing Duff. Then in the 10th minute Alan Banks was pulled down as he was running through and Keith Harvey scored from the spot. City for some inexplicable reason started to fall back and this was their undoing Twice in four minutes Deakin scored with well taken goals to give Peterborough the lead, Kirkham scored a soft fourth goal for the visitors when Peter Shearing misjudged a slow shot and dived too late to stop it roll under his body. Peterborough's fifth goal came when Rooney scored. Over eagerness cost Exeter this goal, Packed in the Peterborough penalty area after a corner, they were all caught upfield, Rooney netting in the breakaway. City need more power in their play, more men running forward, and more accuracy.

CHAIRMAN SLAMS THE CITY TEAM.

Exeter City chairman Reg Rose today hit out at the teams performance against Peterborough United on Saturday and talked of immediate action to stop the slump that has brought five successive defeats, he described City's display as a disgrace and the board would not sit back and accept that sort of thing. The board meeting arranged for Wednesday evening has been brought forward to tonight.

WEDNESDAY 9th MARCH 1966.

BATH CITY 0-2 EXETER CITY 2

WESTERN COUNTIES FLOODLIT LEAGUE.

Shearing; Fulton, Peapell; Balson, McDonald, Anderson; Rees, McLean, Hurrell, Curtis, Tolchard.

Scorers:
Exeter McLean, Tolchard,

Despite including nine men with first team experience in their side, this was not a convincing win by the City. They made hard work of beating Bath City in a match that never inspired the small crowd, Dermot Curtis even missed a penalty late in the second half putting the ball over the bar. The first half was scrappy but trialist Fred Hurrell from Wadebridge gave Exeter the lead forcing home the ball from close range. Jeff Tolchard added a further goal in the 50th minute and it looked as if City were going to pile up a score. But they fell away badly with some careless passing, Exeter's need is for an extension of the spirit provided by transfer seeking Arnold Mitchell.

THURSDAY 10th MARCH 1966.

ANOTHER CITY PLAYER ON OFFER.

The ninth Exeter City player has gone on the transfer list today, he is centre forward George McLean, who has been placed on the open to offers list at his own request, McLean who was signed in the Summer from Grimsby Town for £4,000 as the answer to City's goal starvation problems, has not been able to hit the goal trail at Exeter, he wants a move because his wife, a Grimsby girl, who he married in October, cannot settle in Exeter.
