Watford brought their points tally to five from three games to clinch their best post war start to a season, but they had little to beat in a too casual City sideExeter were a goal down after just seven minutes, and what a fine goal it was, Saunders ran fully 40 yards before beating Shearing with a great shot, He saw another fine effort rebound off a post in the first half dominated by the Watford side, City never recovered, their attacks were disjointed McLean was worked to death chasing hopeless balls, A handfull of good crosses from Welsh dropped into no mans land between McLean and the left touchiineThe midfield link was erratic and City's defence was poor. Hesitation, miskicks and bad passes were standard, a good clean move was an exception, Hugo 13 minutes into the second half increased Watford's lead, with Hrris adding a third goal two ainutes from timeCity were pulled up in this half for hard tackling by the referee on several occasions, the home crowd were not happy with these Exeter tactics, which were due to desperation rather than dirty play.
