City did everything but score so much was their superiority over MansfieldThis was City's best game so far this season, Right from the start they swung into smooth action and Mansfield just did not have chance to settle down, the result was 70% of the match for Exeter, The appearance of new man Buckingham, small and slight, seemed to spur the City side on. He slogged it out in defence and yet found the energy to figure in almost every attack as well. His efficiency made everyone elses job easier, some of the sides regulars clicked into top form not shown before this season, Star in the City attack was Welsh, A burst of brilliance made him outstanding, the best forward on the field, he had fight, speed and ability to beat the fullback on his own he gave the Mansfield defence more trouble than the whole City attack has done against any other side this season, In defence it is hard to pick anyone out from a well drilled group who were not just stoppers but a constructive team, Fulton never put a foot wrong as he completely blotted out the main Mansfield threat and still did a cover mans work,

Exeter's leading goalscorer inside right Alan Banks who returned to the side after another lay off with a leg injury, scored twice in this impressive defeat of Taunton. Afterwards he reported that his leg was a little sore but otherwise seemed alrightThe inside forward trio, comprising Banks, Dermot Curtis and Wilf Carter proved just a little too much for the gallant visiting side, Curtis in fact scored a hat trick, while the Taunton goals came from Watts, Kitchen and Scott, This was one of the best matches seen at St James's Park for quite a while and the crowd was also one of the biggest for some time.

DOUBLE TRANSFER REQUEST SHOCK.
Exeter City's board of directors were faced with a double transfer request shock at this week's meeting, It came from the Irish pair Des Anderson and Dermot Curtis both requests were granted, Curtis joined City from Ipswich Town in August 1963 and won an Eire International cap a month later, Anderson has at least one club interested in him, believed to be Torquay United, The 24 year old might even give up playing altogether, he has been studying for a certificate in industrial management and recently went for a job interview. He is also considering a move to South Africa where he could link up with former City player Dave Hancock.
