Biographical Text
Bob Pullan was a mainstay of Exeter City during the mid-1920s as he made over a hundred league appearances in between signing from Bristol City and later playing for Yeovil and Petters United.
Bob commenced his footballing career with Dawdon Colliery in the North East before joining Bristol City in 1920 where he spent four years mainly as a reserve player.
Moving to Exeter City in the summer of 1924, Bob made his league debut against Reading on 30 August 1924 and played 37 league games in his first season, forty in 1925/26 and 26 in his third and final season with the club. He scored twice against Brentford and Brighton.
During his time with City Bob was also part of the team that in March 1925, after playing an away fixture at Norwich on the Saturday, immediately sailed from Harwich to play a friendly against Zwaluwen (the Swallows) in Amsterdam the following day. Facing a team made up partly of those Ajax players not featuring in an international against Belgium on the same day, City won 5-1 at Het Houten, then home of Ajax.
He signed for Yeovil and Petters United in 1927 and died in North Yorkshire in 1981.

For some reason at Yeovil, we have his death down in July 1976, it seems after his spell at Yeovil he stayed on in the town and worked for Westlands.
