ARGYLE WIN THE DEVON CHAMPIONSHIP
Six Goals at Home Park:
Cup Retained
To wind up the season Exeter City travelled to Plymouth on Thursday, May 2nd, and played off the final tie for the Devon Championship with the Argyle. A fast and interesting game, and at time an exciting one, developed, and six goals were scored altogether, five of them coming before the interval, when Plymouth led 3-2. Plymouth were the stronger side in the second half, and Barnes, their new centre-forward from Bideford, added a goal to the one he had got earlier on. Plymouth's first two goals were scored by Quinn and Kearns, and Exeter's by Churms and Currie. Argyle 4 Exeter City 2. Plymouth Argyle thus retain the Cup, which they won last year.
