Jason Pope came through the youth system at Exeter and made one substitute appearance in the EFL Trophy in 2014. He later played for Weston-super-Mare and qualified as a physiotherapist.
Jason became a City scholar/trainee in 2012 and, after signing a professional contract, remained with the club until 2016. His one first-team game, in the EFL Trophy, came against Coventry City on 7 October 2014 during his first season as a professional.
Having previously been at Weston-super-Mare on loan, Jason signed permanently for the Somerset club in August 2016. After three seasons he moved to Hereford and then on to Bath City in August 2020. After a single season at Twerton Park Jason returned for another spell at Weston-super-Mare at the start of 2021/22. As of early 2023, Jason had played over two hundred games for Weston and had signed a contract into 2023/24 as the club returned to National League South after winning the Southern League.
After his release from St James Park, Jason upped his A level grades at Exeter College and went on to gain a first-class honours degree in physiotherapy from Cardiff. Upon graduating his first job was as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist with Somerset NHS Foundation Trust in the Chard and Wellington areas.
