DEVON CHAMPIONSHIP:
CITY THROUGH TO THE FINAL. EXETER CITY 3 BARNSTAPLE 2 AT ST JAMES'S PARK,
APRIL 9TH.

Beating Barum by the odd goal of five in the semi-final the City are through to the final of the Devon Championship, now called the Devon Professional Cup. They will meet Torquay United at Plainmoor on the last day of April.

Exeter City: Bell; Foley, MacDonald; Butterworth, Harvey, Mitchell; Robinson, Wilson, Calland, Churms, Cruz.

Barnstaple:- Lobbett; Dominy, Smale; Caswell, Hancock, Williams; Morris, Buchanan, Purvis, Marshall, Hitchman.

It was not until seven minutes from the end that Calland scored the goal which gave Exeter victory over a plucky Barnstaple side which fought hard from start to finish. Barum in fact took the lead with the quickest goal ever scored on the St James's Park ground. Ten seconds from kicking off Buchanan hit a through ball down the middle for Purvis to crash it home. The first City player to touch the ball was Bell when he collected it from the back of the net.

At half-time Barnstaple were still in front, 2-1, but in the second half Robinson and Calland got the goals that put Exeter through.
