At the County Ground, Northampton, the City scored first and held the Cobblers to a draw after Harvey had been taken to hospital, his leg having been fractured in a tackle with Yeoman midway through the second half.

Northampton Town:- Elvy; Bannister, Patterson; Yeoman, Collins, Mills; Hawkings, Baron, Norris, Woan, Fowler.

Exeter City:- Hunter; Foley, MacDonald; Mitchell, Oliver, Harvey; Stiffle, Rees, Calland, Nicholls, Dale.

After half an hour Nicholls, who came in for Birch, who is injured, gave Exeter the lead. He got the ball just outside the penalty area and although tackled by two Northampton players he fought past them and banged the ball home left-footed. Immediately play was resumed following the removal from the field of Harvey the Cobblers equalised. Fowler returned Baron's pass into the goalmouth and Woan crashed the ball past Hunter.

Exeter City Reserves v Bedford 


At St James's Park Exeter City Reserves drew with Bedford, one goal all. Winter's goal for Bedford in the first half was equalised by Ray John in the second.
