Exeter City looked as if they were set for both points when they led by two goals in the first quarter of an hour, but the Northern side rallied well to make the score 1-2 at the interval.

Workington:- Frame; Brown, Rollo; Aitken, Tennant, Alexander; Hodgson, Jones, Blakeman, Robson, Dixon.

Exeter City: Hunter; Foley, MacDonald; Mitchell, Oliver, Thompson; Stiffle, Birch, Calland, Nicholls, Dale.

Despite a few minor setbacks the City are keeping well up in the championship race and are now third in the chart 43 points from 31 matches played. Port Vale with 49 points and Coventry with 43 are the leaders, but both these teams have played 2 more games than Exeter.

With Lobbett ill in bed Exeter City called up an amateur goalkeeper from Bristol, Eddie Holehouse, to take the last line of defence at St James's Park today against the Linnets.

Exeter City: Holehouse; Rutter, Whitnall; Butterworth, Rapley, Packer; Atkins, Pulman, Hill, Carberry, Rackley.

King's Lynn:- Manning; Bannister, Docherty; Tennant, Foulkes, Neilson; Baxter, Luke, Dixon, Devlin, Hunter.

Six goals were shared between the above sides, Pulman and Hill (2) scoring for Exeter and Luke, Hunter, and Dixon for the visitors.
