Match 36

Millwall (a)
EASTER PROGRAMME BEGINS AT MILLWALL
FRIDAY MARCH 27th
ANOTHER POINT FOR THE CITY
MILLWALL 1 EXETER 1.
Calland was the man who got Exeter City rather a lucky point on the Millwall ground in the first of the City's holiday fixtures, but he was also the man who could have got his team two points. For three minutes before he put Exeter back in the game with a goal scrambled through in a goalmouth melee he had secured possession of a long bouncing ball that beat Harper and left him with a clear run through the middle. As Davies came running out Calland pushed the ball to the right of the goalkeeper and ran round him. But he pushed it too far and he could manage only a feeble shot from an acute angle, and Bradley blocked the leather as it rolled towards the goal-line.
Millwall:- Davies; Redmond, Brady; Humphries, Harper, Rawson; Broadfoot, Bumpstead, Moyse, Ackerman, Crowshaw.
Exeter City: Hunter; Foley, MacDonald; Butterworth, Oliver, Mitchell; Stiffle, Rees, Calland, Thompson, Dale.
So the City got a draw, and they can be thankful for it. This was nothing like the form they showed at Bradford but an uninspiring and at times quite feeble display from which they were a very lucky team to get a point.
