EXETER CITY
(REES CALLAND STIFFLE) 3
MILLWALL
(BROADFOOT) 1.

EASTER MONDAY AT ST JAMES'S PARK
ATTENDANCE 9,000.

All eyes were on 22-year-old goalkeeper Lobbett at St James's Park on Easter Monday afternoon. And with Exeter City trying to stop the rot of three consecutive home defeats it must have been a nerve-wracking League debut for him. But he came through the ordeal with flying colours and dealt calmly and capably with everything Millwall could offer.

Exeter City: Lobbett; Foley, MacDonald; Butterworth, Oliver, Thompson; Stiffle, Mitchell, Calland, Nicholls, Rees.

Millwall:- Davies; Redmond, Brady; Humphries, Harper, Rawson; Broadfoot, Bumpstead, Moyse, Heckman, Crowshaw.

Taken all round the City's 3-1 victory over Millwall was a fairly comfortable one, although at one stage, at the start of the second half Exeter were making it hard for themselves, and Broadfoot got the equaliser to Rees's early goal after 67 minutes. But as soon as the City buckled down to hard, fast football again they got the goals in the 74th and 82nd minutes which won them the match. The leading clubs in Division 4 are now:-
  • Port Vale top (56 points),
  • Coventry (51),
  • York (50),
  • Shrewsbury and Exeter City  (48).
