Match 10
21st September 1959
Bradford Park Avenue (a)

23rd September 1959
Southern League
Burton (h)

BRADFORD (McAllister) 1 EXETER CITY 0

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 21ST AT PARK AVENUE GROUND.

The City completed their week-end tour of the Midlands and North without having either a goal or a point to show from their two matches and, as against the County at Nottingham on Saturday, so again at Bradford on Monday evening there was further evidence of urgent need for more penetration in attack.

Bradford: Hough; Walker, McCalman; Brims, Williams, Dick; Macgregor, Atkinson, Buchanan, McAllister, Byrom.

City: Jones; Foley, MacDonald; Thompson, Oliver, Harvey; Stiffle, Mitchell, Calland, Micklewright, Rees.

Although they won the match the Bradford team was no better than the City's. Their attack was ragged and Oliver completely blotted out his old Derby clubmate, Buchanan.

CITY RESERVES 1 (Hill)
BURTON ALBION 0.

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 23RD AT ST JAMES'S PARK.

This game had plenty of excitement but very few moments of really worthwhile football, and the kindest thing that can be said about the City Reserves is that they were the better of two poor sides. Fifty-seven minutes of the game had gone by when Hill headed the goal which proved to be the match-winner.

City Res:- Lobbett; Rutter and Whitnall; Butterworth, Rapley, and
Cleverly; Atkins, Hill, Bennett, Calland, and Rackley.

Burton:- Townsend; Tye and Kennedy; Bowering, McAdam, and Finney; Codd, Wright, Bowden, Carberry, and Hardy.
