MONDAY APRIL 25TH

WILKINSON'S LAST-MINUTE WINNER.

DARLINGTON 0 EXETER CITY 1 AT FEETHAMS.

Exeter City came out on top in a rare battle of thrills and spills on the Darlington ground on Monday evening thanks to a goal scored by Jack Wilkinson with practically the last kick of the game. That was his one and only shot of the match but it brought a great goal and two points for the Grecians.

Darlington:- Turner; Furphy, Henderson; Spencer, Greener, Milner; Rayment, Smith, Carr, Baxter, Redfearn. Exeter City: Jones; Foley, MacDonald; Mitchell, Harvey, Thompson; Welsh, Rees, Bennett, Wilkinson, Stiffle.

The game was acknowledged as the best seen at Darlington for some years. Right from the start it was packed with action and most of it took place in Exeter's half of the field. The City had their backs to the wall almost throughout, and their defence, which was absolutely impenetrable, took just about every honour in the book.

EXETER CITY A  3-0 St BLAZEY

Exeter's Swan Song

St. Blazey's defeat at Exeter on Tuesday has made their hopes of the league title nothing more than a pipe dream. Exeter who are withdrawing from the league at the end of the season, had a con- vincing 3-0 victory. Hero of the St Blazev side was goalkeeper Pearce. He injured his shoulder at the start of the second half and although in obvious pain he still managed to bring off some very daring saves. Exeter took the lead through Atkins. Emery made it 2-0 from almost on the goal line, and young centre-forward Lou Burnett got number three.

EXETER RESERVES COME UNSTUCK.

RAMSGATE 3
EXETER CITY RESERVES 1
AT RAMSGATE.

Possibly expecting an easy win over Ramsgate Athletic, who are ten places below them in the Southern League, Exeter City Reserves came badly unstuck at the seaside on Thursday evening.

Ramsgate:- Dwyer; Winfield, Crombie; Clifton, Marshall, Mullins; Bevan, Callan, Jeans, Jones, Rickett.

Exeter City: Lobbett; Butterworth, Whitnall; Cragg, Rapley, Cleverly; Atkins, Pulman, Hill, Dale, Rackley.

For most of the game Exeter were hard pressed to keep the Ramsgate forwards out, and doing very little attacking themselves they were fortunate not to lose by a greater margin than two goals.
