Three goals in eleven minutes of the first half gave Exeter City a well deserved win over the Bolivian football champions in a friendly game, played under the St James's Park floodlights. It was a triumph for the Fourth Division side against the glamorous South American opposition who have wiped the board with some of the leading European clubs in their tour of this side of the Atlantic in the last few weeks.

The Americans pulled out most of the well-known continental tricks, right down to blatant obstruction and jersey pulling, but although they were often faster and sharper in their tackles than the City they were nowhere near as direct or effective in front of goal. The visitors used several substitutes to keep their team as fresh as possible, while the City pulled in two, Arnold Mitchell in the place of Carter five minutes before half-time, and Peter Rutley, the 15 years old ground-staff boy, in place of Hughes for the last fifteen minutes.

Report 2 from the Liverpool Post (Welsh Edition)

Blue gets two for Exeter

Exeter City 3. Car La Paz (Bolivia) 1.

Exeter beat La Paz, the Bolivian side, through a rousing first half perform- ance during which they grabbed three goals. La Paz played a stylish brand of football but Exeter's direct approach work was always more dangerous.

In the second half La Paz came more into the picture and attacked strongly but the Exeter defence conceded only one goal. That was scored by Mario seven minutes from the end. Centre forward Archie Blue scored two goals for Exeter in the 22nd and 33rd minutes, and left winger Brian Jenkins hit a great third in the 27th minute.
