Played at Holker-street, attendance 4,000.

Exeter City:- Tinsley; Hudson and MacDonald; Hughes, Harvey, and Sullivan; Welsh, Gordon, Blue, Rees, and Jenkins.
Referee:- Mr J.W.Bullough of Bolton.
Exeter City were in trouble at Barrow this afternoon. They were a goal down in 15 minutes, two down ten minutes later, and by half time were trailing by three goals. Barrow were much the better side. Their first goal was scored from a free kick on the edge of the penalty area after Robertson had been brought down, their second was a great shot by Hale, who from 25 yards' range floated the ball past Tinsley, and their third by Darwin, who went through on his own.
Kemp in fact started a move which looked like bringing yet another goal immediately afterwards. He passed to Darwin and the ball went to Maddison, who hooked his shot over the bar. The players of both sides were finding it difficult to keep their feet on the bone-hard ground but Barrow managed it better than the City, whose only threat to the home defence was when a centre from Welsh passed across the goalmouth, but nobody was there to touch it in.
