Match 38
February 10th 1962.
Wrexham (h)

EXETER CITY 1 (Gordon)
WREXHAM 1 (K. Barnes pen.)

SATURDAY 10th FEBRUARY 1962.

SAME OLD STORY CITY.

It was the same old familiar story, City had all the play but could not score goals, How many times have we seen that this season? Wrexham had a slice of bad luck when Metcalfe was injured in the 26th minute and spent the rest of the game hobbling on the wing, Wrexham had a slice of good luck when MacDonald was adjudged to have fouled Ron Barnes, Ken Barnes drove home the 34th minute penalty to gice them the lead,

For all the attacking that City did, and they were on the Wrexham penalty area for a terribly long time in the second half they could only get one goal. A good 53rd minute shot from Gordon after Brown had put him through with a headed flick, There was some dreadful finishing, had City shown more fight or had the forwards challenged for the ball more persistently perhaps it would have been a different story,

There were times when City played some really good football, there were times when this was a really exciting game. Once again the City defence played well and once again no one was better than Harvey, Gordon and Jenkins were the City's most dangerous and active forwards Brown was the unluckiest, two brilliant headers saved equally brilliantly by Keelan,
