Match 39
16th February 1962
Doncaster Rovers (a)

DONCASTER ROVERS 3
(Anderson, Larkin penalty, Bonson)

EXETER CITY 1
(Malloy own goal)

FRIDAY 16th FEBRUARY 1962.

ROVERS SCRAMBLE TO DOUBLE OVER CITY.

Doncaster Rovers gained a double at Exeter City's expense, but they were lucky to pull it off, Indeed victory proved to be a scrambling affair, Doncaster should have been encouraged after a goal in only three minutes from Anderson, but it was not until the 74th minute that they went further ahead with a penalty by Larkin, Bonson made sure of victory in the 84th minute.

City were the equals of their opponents in every phase of the game except finishing, Although Carter and Jenkins rattled the woodwork. The only consolation City got was when Malloy turned Carter's cross into his own net when it seemed to be covered by goalkeeper Nimmo,

One of the outstanding players on the field was Sullivan who excelled both in defending and attackingHughes also provided his forwards with a stream of passes, Carter was Exeter's best forward in the first half and showed tremendous shooting ability, Gordon came more into the picture after the interval, Goalkeeper Jones played with great courage during heavy Doncaster pressure,
