Stockport County (a)
STOCKPORT COUNTY 1 (Whitelaw)
EXETER CITY 0
FRIDAY 23rd MARCH 1962.
CITYS WASTED CHANCES!
City played well enough to have deserved a point, three times they had efforts cleared from the Stockport goalline, but they also missed several clear cut chances, and it was to cost them the game, Welsh, Blue and Rees all should have scored but failed to do soStockport were equally guilty, they too could have been well on top at half time. The only goal came after 25 minutes, Whitelow scoring with a flying header that gave Jones little chance, Earlier McDonnell had hit a post and City were fortunate on a couple of other occasions not to concede a goalStockport fell away in the second half but Exeter did not have the punch to level matters, Busy and safe as he was, Jones had less to do than Beighton, Mitchell was in fine form and at one period in the second half was operating as a centre half while Harvey moved up the field to try to prompt an Exeter score. Gordon too worked very hard roving along the line to try and find openings for himself and othersCity's best shooting came from Sullivan, but oh those missed chances.

HEAVIES TO GIVE TO CITY APPEAL.
Exeter City's appeal fund is still rising slowly. The latest contribution bringing the total up to £1,675 is £10 from Heavitree United F.C. This is a very good gesture from the Heavitree club, the first local club to support City in this way,
