Match 47
March 31st 1962.
Aldershot (h)

EXETER CITY 2 (Welsh, Gordon) ALDERSHOT 1 (Woan)

SATURDAY 31st MARCH 1962.

CITY JUST THE BETTER SIDE.

City played well below their againsr Aldershot there was little to commend this game from the point of view of either side, At least City could say that they won, they had fifth the play and created the chances. It got off to promising start when boan hil Aldershot into a blue minute lead and Welsh equalised after 15 minutes. City kept up the pressure and both Carter and Blue had narrow misses, he Both sides lost their early sparkle, Aldershot started to rely on the long ball, City did just the opposite, the result was a very boring hours startet fiddled away so many chances by making three passes where one would have done. Gordon spent a lot of time working for nothing. Often he had to hold the ball so long before anyone else wanted it, that the whole Aldershot defence had closed up. Even so Gordon was the best forward wanted field and the deservedly, scored the winning goal 15 minutes from time, Welsh was again a success at inside right. Though the faded in the second half, he seems to have fitted well into his new position and like Gordon he did not share in the general lack of attacking bite or failure to move fast enough to be in the right spot,
