Devon Professional Bowl, Final.
Torquay United (a)

TORQUAY UNITED 0
EXETER CITY 2 (Gordon, Rees)

MONDAY 16th APRIL 1962. DEVON PROFESSIONAL BOWL FINAL.

TINSLEY HURT AS CITY WIN PROFESSIONAL BOWL.

Exeter City won the final of the Devon Professional challenge bowl, but in so doing they lost keeper Tinsley, he injured his back and had to leave the field for the last 20 minutes with MacDonald taking over between the posts. City were however, never in any danger of losing the two goal lead that they had built up.

Torquay were extremely ragged and badly balanced, Their defence was easily opened and their attack was without any semblence of finish or finesse, The City took some time to settle down and did give Torquay a lot of scope in the first half but United were not able to do much with it, when they did get through Tinsley made great saves from Baxter and Eckersall,

City were not a lot better, but they did work more smoothly in the second half and no one was really surprised when they got their goals, Holland punched out a Blue cross straight to Gordon who hammered it back into the net past three defenders, Then Holland appeared to have a Rees shot well covered but somehow let the ball slip between his hands and it was all over.

Torquay United:- Holland; Bettany and Rossiter; Spencer, Smith, and Hancock; Baxter, Laraman, Jenkins, Eckersall, and Griffiths.

Exeter City:- Tinsley; Hudson and MacDonald; Mitchell, Harvey, and Hughes; Gordon, Rees, Blue, Carter, and Jenkins.

Referee:- Mr F.J.Bricknell of Exminster.

Attendance 1,729.
