Exeter City will have to show considerable improvement on their form at Wrexham on Thursday if they are to avoid being right out of the promotion race. Their sorely pressed defence got into some awful difficulties when under pressure, and their attack never looked strong enough to offer a serious challenge to the more workmanlike home team. It was a Welshman who was born only a few miles from the Wrexham ground who stood between Exeter and a thrashing. Alan Jones is that man, and whilst he was at fault when the second goal was scored, he made at least half a dozen impossible looking saves, notably from Harbertson, the best forward on the field. Exeter did at times play some neat football in midfield but the forward line was ragged and lacked penetrative ideas.
- Exeter City Reserves were good value for their first victory in the Western League when they beat Taunton 3-0 at the Hamilton Road ground on Wednesday evening.
