SOUTHPORT  2 (Blain 2)
EXETER CITY 0

Played at Haig-avenue, attendance 4,413.

Southport: Harris; Leeder, Griffins; Rutherford, McCarthy, Hannaway; Jones, Blain, Blore, Booth, Harrison.

Exeter City: Lobbett; Whitnall, MacDonald; Wilson, Harvey, Thompson; Rees, Donaldson, Wilkinson, Gordon, Harrison.

Referee:- Mr A. Holland, of Barnsley.

Exeter City, with the advantage of the wind in the first half at Southport this afternoon, had most of the play but failed to take their chances. It is getting rather tiresome to have to keep on writing this. After the interval it was Southport who were the better team, and they did most of the attacking. They also did what Exeter City are unable to do, score goals. And Exeter paid dearly for those missed chances in the first half when they conceded two goals in three minutes with the game in its last quarter. Blain, who was very smart at inside-right for the Lancastrians, was the scorer each time. Exeter's attempts to rally made little impression on the Southport defence, and it was Lobbett and company who were hardest pressed.
